Most materials and equipment lifts fall under the category of “Vertical Reciprocating Conveyers” Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors move materials in factories, warehouses, industrial plants, institutions or anywhere that products or supplies need to move from one level to another. Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors are not elevators. In fact, they have their own national code (ANSI/ASME B20.1) and are specifically exempt from the national elevator code. Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors provide fast, efficient, convenient and safe access to/from mezzanines, balconies, basements, and between levels in multiple story buildings. They can be installed for through-floor, interior or exterior applications. The principal components of Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors include guide columns, carriage and a mechanical or hydraulic actuating mechanism.
Asheville Elevator Co Inc has both vertical wheelchair lifts and inclined wheelchair lifts which meet all ADA requirements for commercial installations.
Vertical wheelchair lifts come with either hydraulic or ball screw lifting systems and may be used for simple short rise (stage lift or step-up) applications or may provide a vertical rise of up to twelve feet. They may be used for indoor or outdoor applications and can be installed in a hoistway built by your contractor, or a factory built hoistway that comes with the lift, or they can even run out in the open in some cases. There are many different models to choose from depending on the application. Inclined stairway lifts are designed to mount along a stairway and carry a wheelchair and its occupant up or down one or more flights of stairs. When not in use these lifts fold neatly against the wall so as not to block the stairway when not in use.
